This program enables students to develop specialized legal expertise relevant to their professional field while enhancing their theoretical and applied research skills in legal studies.
The curriculum offers exceptional flexibility – participants complete 48 credit points comprising two research-focused subjects (12 credit points) and 36 credit points of elective courses tailored to individual interests. Students can select from an extensive array of law electives (including finance, patents, insurance, human rights, copyright, family, international, and common law) and specialized concentrations (corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, law and technology, and intellectual property).
Instruction is provided through a combination of practicing legal professionals, dedicated faculty members, and international visiting scholars, offering diverse insights into legal theory and practice. The program actively promotes cross-institutional studies both domestically and internationally.

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
A relevant, appropriate first degree is the Bachelor of Laws, or the Juris Doctor, or a Master of Laws or LPAB Diploma in Law, together with a graduate certificate in the discipline of law. Students with a Bachelor of Laws from a non-common law country are required to complete 79708 Contemporary Business Law in their first session of study. Students who have graduated with a Sharia law degree are not eligible to apply for this course. Applicants who have completed a Bachelor of Laws may support their application for admission with evidence of a minimum of one year’s experience as a legal practitioner.
The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.
