The Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles is a globally recognized program that equips students with foundational skills for diverse careers in both domestic and international fashion sectors. This degree delivers both theoretical understanding and practical garment-creation techniques to turn creative concepts into impactful fashion expressions, with sustainability and ethical practices woven into the curriculum.

While acknowledging commercial realities, UTS fosters future industry leaders by emphasizing creative innovation, hands-on experimentation, systemic approaches, and forward-thinking strategies. Students benefit from cutting-edge textile and fashion facilities, guided by experienced professionals. This exploratory approach is complemented by strong industry connections, offering opportunities to collaborate with major brands like Australian Wool Innovation, Liberty London, ISKO Denim, and Swarovski on authentic projects.

UTS recognizes that fashion revolves around human connections as much as clothing: through studio practice and Design Studies courses, students develop essential communication and collaboration skills to effectively present their concepts to both colleagues and industry professionals. Alumni gain worldwide recognition, with many pursuing careers or further education in global fashion hubs like London, New York, Tokyo, and Milan. Prominent international design houses such as Alexander McQueen, Kenzo, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Helmut Lang regularly employ UTS graduates.

Career Paths
Graduates can pursue roles including fashion designer, textile specialist, production coordinator, creative director, print developer, pattern technician, styling consultant, or trend analyst. Some launch independent labels, while others join local firms or multinational corporations. Additional opportunities exist in fashion media sectors like brand promotion, public relations, and fashion journalism.
