For those passionate about exploring global topics such as politics, environmental concerns, or international affairs and communicating them to audiences, journalism offers a dynamic and diverse career path. This field blends writing, production, research, and analytical skills to help students present complex global matters in clear and meaningful ways. At UTS, journalism is taught with the belief that it serves the public interest, and that a healthy society depends on independent, vigorous media. We prepare our graduates to think critically and provide them with the ethical, intellectual, and political grounding necessary to launch their careers.
Our graduates enter the workforce with opportunities in various roles, such as reporters, producers, editors, social media managers, sub-editors, feature writers, freelance journalists, investigative reporters, researchers, and content creators for print, broadcast, and digital platforms. Beyond traditional journalism, they may also explore positions like media advisors, communication specialists, content developers, or roles in government and NGOs focused on public communication.
The Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation adopts a cross-disciplinary method, drawing insights from multiple fields and incorporating hands-on industry projects, real-world challenges, and independent initiatives.
