The Master of Professional Accounting offers a comprehensive perspective on contemporary accounting practices, encompassing the social, financial, and ecological dimensions of the field. You'll collaborate with leading Australian industry partners like KPMG, CPA, Blundstone, and Hazell Bros within a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Though accounting programs exist worldwide, studying in Tasmania provides exclusive access to the state's distinctive industries. Our close industry ties ensure you gain deep insights into Tasmania's core sectors such as aquaculture, agriculture, international trade, and hospitality. Sustainability principles integrated throughout our curriculum will teach you to make ethically sound decisions while advising clients on both financial and ecological business impacts. Throughout your studies, you'll simultaneously expand your professional network and improve employment opportunities. Through industry workshops and internships, you'll engage directly with potential employers and observe how professionals at all levels utilize their expertise in real-world settings. Many of our graduates secure immediate employment thanks to these internship experiences and industry relationships.
To be eligible for an offer, applicants must have:
A completed undergraduate or postgraduate course in any discipline at Bachelor level (AQF level 7) or higher (or equivalent). Students having a prior qualification in accounting will be considered for recognition of prior learning (up to 4 units).
Please note that although the Master of Professional Accounting is available to students with an existing undergraduate qualification in Accounting, we would recommend seeking further advice about the best course options for your background and goals as you may have already met the requirements of the CPA and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand through your previous study and the amount of credit that can be granted towards the Master of Professional Accounting is limited. For example, a number of the specialisations can be taken as standalone Graduate Certificates and this may be the better choice for students primarily looking to enhance their existing undergraduate accounting qualification.
