The Associate Degree in Arts is a two-year full-time program (or part-time equivalent) that enables students to analyze human culture and behavior through diverse lenses and historical contexts. This program encourages exploration of contemporary societal challenges while developing skills to contribute to humanity's social and economic progress, as well as fostering creative expression and innovation. This qualification offers multiple pathways: it can serve as the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts degree, allow students to focus on two BA majors of interest, or provide the freedom to sample courses across various disciplines. Students enjoy the flexibility to craft their educational journey by selecting from more than twenty potential majors and minors available in the Bachelor of Arts program, along with numerous elective options.
The Education Major equips students with knowledge of educational theories and their practical applications, especially in adult learning environments across professional, community, and informal settings. The initial phase covers fundamental teaching principles - examining content, methodologies, and rationales. Students explore both Australian and international teaching standards across various sectors, along with the theoretical foundations supporting these benchmarks. This stage builds essential competencies for designing, implementing, and evaluating effective learning experiences. The latter half focuses on applying these core concepts to diverse educational scenarios, emphasizing inclusive teaching strategies for varied learning environments. Students address equity and diversity in education, examine the socio-emotional aspects of learning, and develop effective teaching approaches for digital platforms and remote locations. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared to design and implement educational programs in workplace, community, digital, and non-formal settings, employing inclusive policies and practices that ensure quality education delivery.
