Develop a crucial comprehension of the origins of human rights abuses and the strategies used to uphold them, while honing essential research, analytical, communication, and advocacy skills applicable across local, national, and global settings.
Designed for individuals seeking to create real-world impact, this program is ideal for those interested in examining the influence and obstacles surrounding human rights policy, activism, and scholarship at various levels.
The Master of Social Justice (Human Rights) curriculum includes four foundational courses providing cross-disciplinary insights into development, peacebuilding, and human rights. Students across all specializations study these core subjects collectively, fostering collaboration and shared understanding. These courses tackle pressing global justice issues such as poverty alleviation, conflict resolution, human rights protection, and environmental sustainability.
Human Rights specialization students also complete three focused units that strengthen their grasp of human rights frameworks and potential interventions by activists and professionals. These modules thoroughly examine systemic violations and effective countermeasures, featuring case studies on indigenous rights, refugee protections, and corporate accountability.
Three optional courses enable students to expand their expertise in related social justice areas.
The program culminates in a year-long capstone project, where students either produce a thesis or complete a professional internship—preparing them for advanced research or practical careers in human rights work.
