Bioethics examines moral dilemmas emerging from developments in biology and healthcare. Public attention to these matters has intensified alongside progress in biomedical innovations, reproductive technologies, genetic modification, cloning, and stem cell studies.
A medical or healthcare background isn't required to pursue bioethics. Our program attracts students from diverse fields including philosophy, humanities, social sciences, law, natural sciences, clinical medicine, nursing, allied health services, psychology, and healthcare administration.
The Master of Bioethics is a graduate program that equips students to address ethical challenges in biological and health sciences, particularly those stemming from advances in biomedical and reproductive technologies, genetic manipulation, cloning, and stem cell investigation. This program fulfills the continuing education requirements set by the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP). The curriculum includes foundational courses in bioethics, medical philosophy, and legal aspects, culminating in a final project. Students achieving a credit average across four units may qualify for the research track option.
