Build essential communication competencies needed to excel as a skilled communicator in healthcare, public policy, PR, community engagement, and media fields.
This program caters to both emerging and established communication professionals, health advocates, PR practitioners, media specialists, and medical professionals.
To earn the Graduate Certificate in Health Communication, students must successfully complete 4 study units (24 credit points), which includes two mandatory core units.
Additional units are typically selected from approved electives or pursued in relevant disciplines, pending approval from the academic coordinator.
The curriculum focuses on cultivating expertise in:
effectively conveying public health initiatives and policy discussions
designing community education initiatives that promote better health literacy
advocating for and increasing visibility around critical healthcare issues
leveraging communication technologies, including digital platforms, to maintain information integrity and ethical practices
Admission to the course requires:
a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; or
equivalent professional experience of no less than three years in a relevant field such as communications/media research, public relations, social/cause-related marketing or health promotion.
IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
