The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology offers a completely online program with select in-person opportunities, tailored for healthcare professionals and clinical investigators. This program equips participants with essential techniques to conduct rigorous clinical studies and evaluate research findings for enhanced patient outcomes.
Students gain expertise in clinical epidemiology principles, empowering them to integrate evidence-based approaches into their medical practice. The curriculum also prepares aspiring researchers with fundamental skills and serves as a stepping stone for academic research pursuits.
This 24-credit program comprises 12 credits of mandatory courses and 12 credits of elective options from Part A Electives.
Participants undergo comprehensive training covering every phase of clinical research – from initial conception and study design to statistical evaluation, practical application, and policy implementation.

Our epidemiology programs accommodate working professionals through flexible online delivery, with both part-time and full-time enrollment options. Certain courses provide voluntary campus-based components for those seeking in-person learning experiences.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the course requires:

a medical degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification, or
a bachelors degree in a health-related discipline with first or second class honours from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification, or
a pass bachelors degree in a health-related discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification. Applicants must have completed work equivalent to a first or second class honours bachelors degree or pass a preliminary examination(s) as prescribed by the Faculty, or
completion of the first 4 years of an undergraduate medical degree that is accredited by the Australian Medical Council, and a letter of recommendation from the head of clinical school/medical program supporting concurrent enrolment while completing degree requirements.
All students entering the program are expected to have some clinical experience.
IELTS score- A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - IBT score A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
