The History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) program offers an opportunity to expand and enhance your understanding of science's role in today's world. Through HPS, you'll step back from the narrow focus of other disciplines to examine science's broader context - its evolution, current structure, societal integration, and the social, cultural, and ethical implications of scientific progress.
For students outside the Faculty of Science, HPS provides valuable insights into science's fundamental nature, historical growth, and contemporary significance. The program also introduces you to key political and ethical debates surrounding modern scientific practice.
The combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing program cultivates analytical abilities while letting you investigate various scientific fields. You'll complete core requirements, introductory electives, and a chosen Science major, supplemented by additional electives to fulfill credit requirements from either disciplinary or shared course pools.
Your initial year focuses exclusively on science coursework, with nursing studies beginning in year two. Progression to the Master of Nursing requires meeting academic benchmarks. The nursing curriculum combines theoretical study with extensive hands-on training, including more than 800 hours of clinical placements throughout your degree.
