Our dual degree program offers high-achieving school graduates the opportunity to complete a three-year Bachelor of Science followed by a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD). This comprehensive pathway provides a stronger scientific foundation for medical careers, whether in specialization, research, or education. As a science undergraduate, you'll learn from distinguished academics including Australian Academy of Science members, ARC Fellows, and recipients of major awards like the Prime Minister's Prizes for Science. You'll have access to cutting-edge facilities such as the Sydney Nanoscience Hub and the Charles Perkins Centre. The MD program holds full accreditation from the Australian Medical Council, qualifying graduates for provisional registration across Australia and New Zealand.
Nutrition Science examines food's role in health and disease throughout life. Beginning with biological and biochemical fundamentals, the program progresses to human nutrition, exploring nutrient effects from molecular to systemic levels. You'll study nutrient sensing, digestion, metabolism, and storage while developing laboratory and data analysis skills. This prepares you for careers in nutrition science, research, or potential entry into the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics program.
Specializing in nutrition and metabolism creates opportunities for advanced study, including honors research or the DAA-accredited Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. Career paths include: healthcare facilities; community health services; private practice; sports nutrition; food manufacturing; marketing; consulting; NGOs; government health roles; and academic positions in teaching or research.
