Today, physicians increasingly depend on drugs not just to cure ailments like infections with antibiotics, but also to prevent conditions such as heart disease using cholesterol-lowering medications. Choosing pharmacology as your major will provide comprehensive understanding of drug discovery, development, and testing, along with its significance for advancing medical research and healthcare. Throughout this program, you'll explore drug mechanisms, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, the relationship between chemical structure and drug activity, drug effects on bodily systems, toxicity, and other key topics.
