The combined Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Advanced) program provides outstanding prospects for aspiring scientists seeking rigorous academic challenges. Through a blend of classroom instruction, self-directed research, and complex problem-solving, our Advanced track equips students with the expertise needed for successful careers or cutting-edge scientific exploration. You'll learn from passionate scientific leaders, including Australian Academy of Science members, Australian Research Council Fellows, and recipients of distinguished awards. The program utilizes state-of-the-art facilities such as the Sydney Nanoscience Hub and the Charles Perkins Centre, specializing in diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular research. This curriculum features specialized 'advanced' science units offering rigorous challenges, unique projects, and accelerated learning pathways. With over 40 science majors, interdisciplinary programs, and flexible degree options - including shared majors across the University - this four-year program enables students to chart their own academic journey. First-year students build foundational scientific knowledge through core subjects like mathematics, with opportunities to explore non-science electives. During years two and three, students focus on their chosen specialization while completing an advanced-level major. Across all four years, participants undertake a secondary major and engage in cross-disciplinary initiatives involving community, professional, research, or entrepreneurial projects. Graduates emerge with versatile skills applicable to diverse career paths.
