The Honors year following the Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science is a prestigious additional year of undergraduate study open to students after completing their degree. This program offers a special chance to develop research skills and apply theoretical knowledge gained during undergraduate studies. An Honors qualification in science or arts is valued not just in academic circles but also in professional settings, where hands-on lab experience and advanced analytical abilities are in high demand. Students can pursue Honors in any science or arts discipline, typically within their primary field of study. The program involves creating a research project in consultation with academic supervisors, which may span multiple disciplines (such as combining physiology and biology). Depending on the project requirements, students might need to take courses in experimental methodology or receive specialized technical training.
The European Studies Honors program includes two seminar courses and a research thesis. Similar to the undergraduate major, all coursework and the thesis are conducted in English. However, students with proficiency in European languages are encouraged to utilize foreign-language sources for their thesis research. Applicants must maintain a 70% average in their major to qualify. Prospective Honors students are advised to leverage their language skills and explore related courses in language departments to enhance their research.
