The Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science offers exceptional versatility with its wide array of majors, equipping you with a balanced foundation in both humanities and sciences. This program cultivates highly sought-after skills that enhance your employability across diverse industries. Beyond mastering written and oral communication, you'll develop ethical reasoning and critical thinking abilities that prepare you for real-world challenges. Ideal for intellectually curious students, the BLAS degree lets you explore multiple disciplines rather than limiting you to a single specialization. Throughout this three-year program, you'll select either an arts or science major while supplementing your studies with complementary subjects from the opposite field. With more than 40 arts majors and 30 science options available—spanning disciplines from Philosophy to Physics to Political Economy—you'll graduate with the comprehensive knowledge that distinguishes liberal arts scholars. However, the BLAS degree transcends mere academic content; it focuses on developing transferable life skills. The integrated Liberal Studies component specifically enhances your communication and analytical capabilities—qualities employers consistently prioritize in new hires.
The European Studies specialization examines contemporary European societies, political systems, and cultural landscapes. Our curriculum investigates both current European affairs—including its challenges, triumphs, diversity, and global relations—and their historical contexts. This major explores the European Union (the planet's most sophisticated supranational federation and progressive global power) alongside the broader continental context. Drawing on expertise from various language departments and Political Economy, this program accommodates students at all levels—from majors and minors to those taking individual electives. While all instruction occurs in English, we strongly recommend pairing European Studies with language acquisition through a complementary major or minor. Study abroad opportunities at our European partner institutions are available, and our project-based senior units—including credit-bearing internships—develop professional competencies for addressing modern European challenges. For deeper specialization, consider our fourth-year honors program (featuring independent research) or advanced project-based coursework.
BLAS graduates pursue diverse career paths including: Communications specialist, Cultural consultant, Diplomatic service, International relations specialist, Overseas correspondent, Global commerce, Media professional, Policy researcher, Government advisor, Community development coordinator, Educator (with additional qualifications), and Tourism industry consultant.
