The Bachelor of International and Global Studies (Honours) is a rigorous one-year program focused on advanced study and research. Students participate in seminars and develop a significant thesis on a topic chosen with a supervisor who specializes in the field. While pass degrees allow exploration of various disciplines with a focus on one or two majors, the honours year enables in-depth engagement with the major subject, teaching students to apply its methods through independent research. This year serves as both preparation for postgraduate studies and a culmination of undergraduate education. For some, honours marks the end of their formal education, broadening their intellectual scope, refining their research, analytical, and communication abilities, and equipping them with the skills to complete a major project. For others, it is the initial step toward careers as professional researchers or academics. The fourth-year honours program in Anthropology allows you to delve deeper into a world region or comparative theme of interest from your major. In the first semester, you will complete two seminar-based units that consolidate your understanding of key disciplinary debates and begin working with a supervisor on a 20,000-word dissertation, receiving guidance to define your research question and identify relevant literature and empirical data.
