The School of Mathematics and Statistics provides an honours track in applied mathematics for qualified candidates. Key research domains include Astrophysical and Geophysical Modelling, Financial Mathematics, Industrial Applications, Mathematical Biosciences, and Nonlinear Systems analysis.
The applied mathematics honours curriculum features an in-depth research project or analytical essay, mentored by a specialist in your chosen focus area. Participants produce either an investigative thesis or a critical examination of foundational mathematical problems, complemented by required coursework through lectures and seminars. Current research priorities encompass Astrophysical and Geophysical Modelling, Financial Mathematics, Industrial Applications, Mathematical Biosciences, and Nonlinear Systems analysis. Program requirements include completing 24 credit points of research and 24 credit points of coursework.
