The Bachelor of Arts honours program serves as both a foundation for graduate studies and the pinnacle of undergraduate education. This intensive year can mark the conclusion of your academic journey while expanding your intellectual horizons, refining research capabilities, analytical thinking, and communication skills. It equips you with the personal and professional competencies required to successfully execute a research endeavor. Ideal for undergraduates with a single major, honours also serves as a stepping stone toward academic or professional research careers. The program combines seminar coursework with an independent research thesis, guided by a faculty expert in your chosen field.
The Political Economy Honours degree stands as the flagship undergraduate offering within the Department. Designed for outstanding students majoring in Political Economy, it cultivates exceptional research, writing, and communication abilities.
This intensive year-long curriculum includes two advanced seminar courses and the development of a 20,000-word thesis on a student-selected topic. The honours thesis represents an independent research project conducted under departmental supervision. Students may explore topics in economic theory, policy analysis, or methodological approaches.
The program creates a direct pathway to postgraduate education. Political Economy honours graduates are highly valued by employers for their advanced research and writing competencies honed during thesis preparation.
