The fourth-year honors program in Chinese Studies offers students a chance to explore social, political, cultural, literary, or linguistic aspects of China through specialized study.

High-achieving students in Chinese Studies are encouraged to pursue an honors year. The program accommodates various Chinese language abilities and research focuses, though stronger language skills open up more engaging opportunities.

Admission requires at least a 70 average in a Chinese Studies major. Prospective students should consider enrolling in ASNS3690 Approaches to Research in Asian Studies during the semester prior to starting honors.

Qualification Requirements

To qualify for admission to honours students need to have completed a major in the intended subject area with an average of 70% or above. Some departments and programs have additional criteria, including advanced senior units of study designed to prepare students for the challenges of fourth year study.

TOEFL IBT - A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
