This dynamic major is delivered by faculty from the School of Languages and Cultures and the School of Literature, Art and Media. You'll be taught by experts specializing in literature, film, theater, cultural studies, translation, and social sciences, with deep knowledge of European, Asian, and Middle Eastern traditions. Rooted in comparative literary theory, this major offers personal enrichment while preparing you for careers in publishing, media, advertising, government, NGOs, or academia. Through comparative studies examining global cities, text-image relationships, or genres like science fiction, you'll explore how societies, histories, cultures, and political issues are represented across literary traditions. No foreign language proficiency is required for core studies, as instruction is in English using translated texts. However, knowledge of another language is necessary for Honors and postgraduate research.
