The Bachelor of Arts honours program serves as both a bridge to postgraduate studies and the crowning achievement of undergraduate education. This intensive year can mark the completion of your formal learning while expanding your intellectual horizons, refining research capabilities, analytical thinking, and communication skills, while cultivating the personal and professional competencies required to successfully execute a research project. Designed for undergraduates with a single major, this program also lays the foundation for academic or professional research careers. The honours curriculum combines seminar participation with an independent research thesis, guided by faculty experts in your chosen field.
Within the Economics Honours specialization, students thrive in an encouraging atmosphere that enhances their economic expertise. The program develops employer-coveted skills including analytical reasoning, problem-solving, quantitative methods, data interpretation, research techniques, and effective communication. Participants engage with five semester-long units in intimate class settings (typically under 25 students). Coursework constitutes 62.5% of the final honours assessment, complemented by a supervised thesis (maximum 15,000 words) contributing the remaining 37.5%. This structure fosters exceptional faculty mentorship and meaningful peer collaboration throughout the Economics Honours experience.
