The Bachelor of Arts honours program serves as both a bridge to postgraduate studies and the pinnacle of undergraduate achievement. This intensive year can mark the conclusion of your academic journey while expanding your intellectual horizons, refining research skills, and enhancing analytical and communication methods. It equips you with the personal and professional competencies required to successfully complete a research endeavor. Ideal for undergraduates with a single major, honours also lays the foundation for careers in academia or professional research. The program combines seminar participation with an independent research thesis, guided by a faculty expert in your chosen field.
Within the Archaeology honours track, fourth-year students undertake an extended research project alongside two seminar-based units:
ARCO4104 Archaeological Research Themes
ARCO4105 Archaeological Research Approaches
The Department specializes in three research areas for honours candidates: Australian, Western/Central Asian, and Classical archaeology. Proposals focusing on other archaeological subjects will receive individual consideration.
