Theatre and Performance Studies examines diverse forms of artistic expression and everyday performances, spanning traditional theater, dance, live art, and extending to the performative aspects of politics, sports, film, and popular culture. Students will investigate various creative methodologies, develop original short pieces, and collaborate with visiting professional artists.
Through hands-on workshops, students cultivate practical abilities while attending numerous performances. They learn techniques for documenting shows, analyzing spatial dynamics and architectural usage, observing movement patterns, and transforming these insights into comprehensive critical evaluations. Performance serves as an analytical framework for interpreting non-theatrical occurrences, drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from theater studies, movement analysis, anthropology, history, philosophy, and sociology.
This program establishes a robust theoretical foundation for future careers in performance, direction, education, arts management, or other cultural sector professions.
