Linguistics explores the nature of human language. It seeks to understand language's fundamental characteristics, uncover its underlying principles, and apply these insights to enhance our comprehension of communication, cultural dynamics, social interactions, and cognitive processes.
With approximately 6000 distinct languages worldwide, each represents a complex system featuring unique phonetics, grammatical structures, and cultural expressions. This program teaches how language functions in various contexts - from persuasion and information exchange to social organization and community building.
You'll develop expertise in language analysis and communication strategies. The analytical skills gained through linguistics apply to diverse fields including cognitive science, cultural studies, and numerous professional domains such as diplomacy, education, media, technology, and social services.
The combined Bachelor of Arts and Master of Nursing program fosters critical thinking and independent analysis while offering broad exposure to arts and social sciences disciplines.
Students complete a primary specialization from Arts and Social Sciences, supplemented by either a secondary minor or major. The curriculum also includes Open Learning Environment components and elective units to fulfill degree requirements.
The initial year focuses exclusively on Arts and Social Sciences coursework, with nursing studies beginning in the second year. Progression to the Master's component requires meeting academic standards. The nursing curriculum combines theoretical study with extensive practical training, including more than 800 hours of clinical placements.
