Indonesia is a fascinating and diverse nation that lies near Australia yet offers a distinctly unique cultural experience. Leveraging our deep connections within Indonesia and with the Indonesian-Australian community, this program delivers a comprehensive, modern curriculum spanning history, political science, geography, anthropology, linguistics, and cultural studies.
Graduates will develop advanced language proficiency, versatile academic competencies, and in-depth regional expertise. The Indonesian Studies major equips students with both linguistic capabilities and scholarly techniques to effectively use Indonesian across various contexts and conduct research in the language.
Participants will follow tailored learning tracks outlined in the unit tables, aligned with their individual language proficiency. Those completing any pathway will earn a major in Indonesian Studies.
Placement in language units is determined by prior academic performance (HSC or IB results as specified in the pathways) or through pre-enrollment assessments. For guidance on selecting the appropriate pathway based on your language skills, consult the Department.
