The Education Studies Major is a core component for undergraduates pursuing education degrees at the Sydney School of Education and Social Work, while also being open to non-teaching students with an interest in educational topics. This major offers fundamental education coursework, covering introductory subjects along with specialized units including educational sociology, psychology, Aboriginal Education, and Special and Inclusive Education.
During their third year, students can select specialized courses from diverse fields such as educational psychology, creativity in learning, global education, or Australian educational contexts with a focus on Aboriginal communities. Rotating elective options feature subjects like child development and educational neuroscience, mentoring in educational settings, creative teaching approaches, Aboriginal-led education initiatives, and gender studies in education.
In their concluding academic year, students will undertake the FASS Interdisciplinary Impact module and the culminating Education Capstone Unit.
