This five-year program provides an extensive and adaptable combined degree that certifies you as an accredited social worker while enabling you to supplement your qualification with complementary majors and minors from the Bachelor of Arts, such as sociology, social policy, diversity studies, gender studies, or philosophy. The curriculum integrates social sciences, social policy, and social work theory with a focus on Australian and international social welfare studies. During the final two years, all students complete a professional social work component, featuring two supervised fieldwork placements in diverse settings led by expert practitioners. The program progressively builds field education competencies, cultivating values, skills, and knowledge to meet the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Practice Standards from foundational to professional levels.
You'll acquire historical understanding and analytical abilities to contextualize artistic works across periods and cultures, examining their relationships and original contexts. The program trains you in essential visual and spatial analysis techniques, including critical interpretation of visual elements. Beyond traditional forms like painting and sculpture, you'll explore diverse media and practices—from body art to video installations, fresco to pop art, ceremonial rituals to performance art, and early prints to land art. Art history studies develop crucial skills for interpreting visual communication and innovation in our image-driven society. Graduates may pursue careers as curators, critics, art advisors, collection managers, or educators in museums, galleries, auction houses, government agencies, community arts, or art journalism.
