At UniSQ, your work-integrated learning begins early with clinical placements starting in year one, including pre-analytical training. Gain hands-on pathology lab experience that boosts your career prospects. In the medical laboratory science program, you'll master blood sample analysis to detect conditions like anaemia, leukaemia, and malaria, plus blood typing for transfusions. Acquire expertise in processing tissue specimens for disease diagnosis, including cancer detection, and assessing blood product compatibility. You'll train with cutting-edge molecular and traditional techniques to identify pathogens responsible for infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, and surgical site or bloodstream infections.
