The Water Science program combines the study of water dynamics, surface processes, climate patterns, and resource management, with special emphasis on Australia's distinctive inland waterways, floodplains, and aquifers. This hands-on, career-focused program allows students to investigate various elements of water science and hydrological modeling. UniSQ leads in water modeling research within water science and engineering, collaborating with the Queensland Government, consulting agencies, Natural Resource Management organizations, and the Queensland Water Modeling Network (QWMN). Enhance your understanding through practical fieldwork examining water resources and freshwater ecosystems, along with training in surveying, monitoring methods, data interpretation, and visits to water and renewable energy sites.
Career opportunities for graduates include roles as hydrologists, water scientists, or water modelers, as well as options to pursue teaching (with additional qualifications) or science journalism. Potential employers span consulting firms, mining and resource sectors, national parks, academic institutions, defense agencies, CSIRO, and various state and federal government departments dedicated to sustainable water resource management.
