The Master of Software Engineering (Professional) equips you with thorough expertise in software systems and applications.
With technology playing an ever-growing role in society, there's significant need for qualified experts to develop essential software and information systems that drive innovation and enhance how we live and work.
As a certified software engineer, you'll be able to pursue careers in software design, development, and innovation across various industries and professional capacities.
To be eligible for entry, you'll need:
a 4-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or
a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or
to have successfully completed 3 years of study towards an approved qualification at an overseas partner institution, with a formal pathway to the Master of Software Engineering (Professional).
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification
Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications
Relevant disciplines include software engineering and computer science.
If your bachelor's degree was not awarded in these disciplines, you must have successfully completed all of the following discipline content in your tertiary studies:
Data structures and algorithms
Minimum 2 programming courses
Introduction to software engineering
And at least 3 from:
computer organisation or computer architecture or computer systems
computer networks or communication networks
operating systems
databases or information systems
probability and statistics and discrete mathematics
software design or software architecture or software modelling
English language requirements
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ
TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5.
Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.
