Jumpstart your molecular biology research journey. Develop essential technical and research abilities in key molecular biology domains, protein technologies, and bioinformatics through intensive 2-3 semester lab training. Conduct research in university labs, industry environments with academic co-supervision, or through placements with industry mentors across various organizations. Acquire expertise in cutting-edge molecular biology techniques including:
protein design
directed evolution
enzyme studies
large-scale screening
computational biology
evolutionary sequence analysis
core molecular cloning techniques
protein isolation and LC-MS small molecule assessment.
Gain proficiency in hypothesis development, experimental planning, and Australian lab safety protocols. Refine your scientific writing by preparing a publishable research paper and presenting your work for peer evaluation within your research team.
If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you can reduce the number of courses you need to complete and graduate in less time.
To be eligible to complete the degree in 1.5 years full-time (only available as full-time study), you'll need:
a bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below).
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.5 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
