Develop a sophisticated grasp of critical global political challenges, international security matters, diplomatic relations, and systems of international and regional governance. The Master of International Relations (MIR) is a structured degree program designed to cultivate theoretical insights, practical research capabilities, and specialized knowledge in international relations (IR). You'll learn from distinguished academics and researchers who maintain strong industry connections and actively contribute to public discourse in their disciplines. You'll join a diverse cohort of students from various nations and cultural backgrounds. The curriculum offers nearly 40 specialized courses and projects spanning fundamental IR domains, including Asia-Pacific International Relations, Diplomatic Strategy, Human Rights Ethics, and Global Political Economy. The program provides optional opportunities for field-based learning, thesis research, or participation in the Graduate Centre Mentorship initiative. UQ's MIR program prepares graduates with essential analytical and operational competencies for professional pathways in diplomatic services, public administration, policy research institutions, international NGOs, United Nations agencies, global media, or development sectors.
