The Master of Bioinformatics Research Extensive program caters to graduates in biological sciences, computer science, and mathematics who want to strengthen their technical and research capabilities in key bioinformatics areas, stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies, and gain hands-on laboratory and computational experience through immersive research work.
You'll have the chance to undertake an independent research project either on campus or with an industry partner, further developing your technical and research expertise.
With industries increasingly adopting genetic technologies, the demand for skilled bioinformaticians continues to rise. This program equips you for fulfilling careers across diverse sectors, including pharmaceutical firms, biotech companies, research institutions, and government agencies.
An approved equivalent Bachelor degree in Science, IT or Engineering, with an introduction in one or more subjects relevant to the study of bioinformatics, including molecular biology, computer science and statistics; or
Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics.
UQ or equivalent GPA of 5 or above on a 7 point scale.
English Proficiency
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BEP - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.
