Become a certified Chinese-English or Japanese-English translator and interpreter through the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting program.
This two-year degree provides practical, career-oriented instruction in community translation and interpreting, along with specialized training for high-demand fields like healthcare and legal translation.
Students will develop crucial technical competencies in CAT tools, machine translation post-editing, digital terminology systems, and bidule/relay interpreting techniques. The program also trains students for high-level simultaneous interpretation in global business and conference environments.
A key focus involves leveraging emerging digital technologies in translation and interpreting, preparing graduates to succeed in our increasingly interconnected, technology-driven language services industry.
a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or
a Graduate Certificate in Arts in Interpreting (or equivalent), or
a Graduate Certificate in Arts in Translation (or equivalent), and
proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English for the Chinese field of study, or
proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English for the Japanese field of study

IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BEP - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.
