A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a globally recognized advanced research degree designed to cultivate independent scholars. Working with a supervisory panel, you'll conduct original research, compose an 80,000-word dissertation, and defend it orally. This full-time program typically spans 3-4 years, during which you'll refine specialized research capabilities in your discipline. The doctoral dissertation represents a significant scholarly work that advances knowledge in your area of study, potentially incorporating non-traditional formats. Applicants should possess robust academic credentials and may be required to provide a research plan and supporting materials during admission. The University of Queensland welcomes approximately 1,000 new PhD researchers annually across diverse academic fields.
You have to prove you are prepared for PhD study. You do this by showing you:
have completed some research experience
have completed an approved university degree and
can meet the English language requirements.
