Discover fundamental and practical elements of orthodontic care.

You'll examine cephalometric principles and applications, craniofacial structure, growth patterns, biomechanical force systems and their uses, along with imaging and radiographic methods.

Key clinical focuses involve orthodontic treatment, assessing and addressing dental and facial irregularities, cleft conditions, and handling severe bite alignment issues.

Your hands-on training will occur at UQ's Herston-based Oral Health Centre and affiliated medical institutions, including the Cleft Clinic at Queensland Children's Hospital, plus orthognathic procedures at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital's Maxillofacial Unit.

Qualification Requirements

Hold an approved degree in dentistry from UQ (or equivalent) with a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience and be registered as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia.Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.The minimum GPA to be considered for admission into this program is 4.0. IELTS overall 7; reading 7; writing 7; speaking 7; listening 7. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 100, listening 25, reading 25, writing 27, speaking 23.
