Music can profoundly influence students' lives. Delve into the diverse realm of music education by pursuing a career as a music instructor. Foster students' growth across social, emotional, and academic domains through musical engagement. During the initial two years, you'll receive hands-on training with your selected instrument or vocal studies, alongside coursework in music history, theory, and optional music education classes, culminating in a final-year research project. You'll examine teaching methodologies and learning processes in specialized courses tailored for future music educators, then implement these concepts in real classroom settings. The program emphasizes experiential learning through workshops, school observations, and guided practicums, providing comprehensive insight into secondary education environments. Personalized coaching and ensemble involvement will refine your instrumental or vocal expertise. To ready yourself for teaching, you'll broaden your proficiency across multiple instruments and acquire strategies for leading music classes and ensembles. Upon completion, you'll emerge as a adaptable educator, prepared to teach in various settings, compose and perform music, and advance scholarly inquiry in the field.
