As a certified social worker, you'll demonstrate dedication to societal welfare and possess advanced skills to assist individuals, families, groups, and communities in gaining fair access to opportunities and resources. You'll be equipped to drive transformative actions that improve living conditions for marginalized populations while alleviating personal suffering and guiding people toward greater autonomy in their lives. At UQ, you can tailor your social work journey through foundational and specialized training in health/aging, child/youth/family services, and mental health. The program blends targeted coursework, research projects, and practical placements with essential training in social work theory, policy analysis, and research methods. Renowned instructors will teach you about legal frameworks, developmental psychology, ethical standards, and core social work philosophies. The curriculum includes 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork across diverse environments like healthcare facilities and social service organizations, with options for rural, interstate, or global placement opportunities.
You must achieve the required ATAR score, Queensland rank or IB score for your preferred UQ program if you are currently studying:
Australian Year 12 (or equivalent)
International Baccalaureate, or
National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 in New Zealand.
