This program integrates mechanical engineering with focused coursework in materials engineering.
Materials engineering focuses on choosing, processing, and advancing materials for product design and manufacturing. Materials—including metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers, and composites—determine both the functionality and visual appeal of manufactured goods.
Materials engineers use their expertise in material behavior to enhance product processing and characteristics. You'll engage with diverse industries, working on items ranging from smartphone displays and athletic footwear to airplane components and synthetic tissues, while collaborating with mechanical engineering to optimize machinery and structural performance.
