This specialization starts by examining design fundamentals, mechatronic systems, theoretical concepts, communication techniques, and ethical considerations. Your coursework will combine mechanical engineering dynamics and materials with electrical components like circuit architecture.
You'll investigate both theoretical frameworks and real-world implementations in fields such as AI, signal processing, and control systems. These concepts will merge with computer science as you understand the interplay between mechanical and electrical systems.
Annually, you'll undertake a practical, team-based project course where you'll develop solutions for mechatronic challenges by creating functional systems.
Past student projects have featured compact rescue robots, self-navigating drones, automated vehicles and sailboats, and underwater recovery systems. Additionally, you'll undertake a robotics-focused project during your final year.
