The Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) degree offers you the chance to conduct self-directed research within the biomedical field, focusing on your chosen specialty under faculty guidance.
You'll cultivate exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and investigative abilities that prepare you for postgraduate studies or autonomous research roles across both public and private institutions.
Building upon the Bachelor of Biomedical Science foundation, this honours program allows you to deepen your understanding and hands-on experience in specialized areas such as molecular biology, pharmacology, neuroscience, immunology and infectious diseases, physiology, human genetics, and developmental biology.
Bachelor of Biomedical Science (or equivalent), with:
a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale, and
a GPA of at least 4.5 at the first attempt for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project (with a maximum of 2 units for a research project), and
have secured an honours project and supervisor, and
satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school.
English language requirements
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ
TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.
