The Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) is an elite program designed for top-performing students aspiring to become leaders in their field. It offers the chance to explore scientific interests deeply while acquiring hands-on research experience under the mentorship of distinguished scientists and academics. During your studies, you'll partner with researchers and fellow students on innovative projects, honing your problem-solving abilities while strengthening your research, analytical, and communication skills. You'll deepen your scientific knowledge through a focused specialization, selecting from 23 diverse fields spanning science and mathematics. This rigorous program will push your intellectual boundaries, fostering a profound passion for science that prepares you for a successful career in research or industry. The first year introduces interdisciplinary problem-solving techniques while connecting you with other high-achieving students and faculty. In subsequent years, you'll concentrate on your chosen discipline, with the flexibility to enhance your specialization through one of 24 majors or 32 minors across scientific domains. You may also broaden your expertise by selecting a minor in languages, communications, design, economics, or humanities. The culminating year features an immersive, year-long independent research project. Graduates discover growing opportunities across government, healthcare, corporate, environmental, and financial sectors worldwide, along with research institutions. This degree also serves as a strong foundation for medical school or advanced research degrees like a PhD.
Chemistry serves as the fundamental science. It involves creating and examining molecules and materials, investigating their characteristics, and discovering practical applications. This requires analyzing reaction mechanisms and molecular-level processes. Chemistry's core principles form the basis for fields like biochemistry, engineering, food science, materials science, nanotechnology, and pharmacy. In your final year, you'll complete an independent research project with faculty supervision, essentially serving as a research apprenticeship. You can customize your specialization by pairing it with majors or minors from various scientific or non-scientific areas to align with your professional aspirations.
