The University of Notre Dame Australia provides exceptional students who have excelled in their Honours or Masters programs the chance to pursue a PhD. This three-year full-time program involves close collaboration with two academic supervisors while conducting groundbreaking research that could lead to major discoveries or innovative applications of existing knowledge. The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a research-focused degree tailored to each candidate's methodology, thesis subject, and academic background. Additional research training or coursework may be required as part of the program, with candidates receiving continuous support, mentorship, and engagement in the university's research community.
Students can complete their PhD through a conventional thesis, a thesis by publication, or a non-traditional format combining an exegesis with a creative work. The research should explore an important question within the candidate's discipline, offering an original and meaningful contribution to fields such as humanities, social sciences, applied sciences, or Aboriginal studies.
Prospective PhD candidates must consult with a qualified academic staff member, ideally their intended principal supervisor, before submitting their enrollment application.
The following criteria are required for a student to be admitted to the PhD program:
