The Bachelor of Secondary Education is a modern program blending comprehensive theory with around 27 weeks of hands-on classroom training. You'll also select two specialized teaching areas for accreditation in grades 7 through 12. Beyond preparing you for secondary school teaching in NSW, this four-year degree lets you gain specialized knowledge in subjects like English, math, history, drama, business studies (covering commerce, economics, and legal studies), and religious education (including Catholic studies). Recognized by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), this qualification enables you to teach in public, private, and Catholic high schools (years 7-12) across Australia and internationally.
For those interested in advanced studies, various postgraduate options are available, including the Graduate Certificate in Education (Special Needs), Master of Education (Special Needs), and Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education. The Masters of Philosophy (Education) and Doctor of Education programs combine academic coursework with independent research projects.
