The Master of Professional Psychology provides professional training for aspiring Registered Psychologists. This program delivers rigorous psychological education, equipping graduates to apply advanced psychological knowledge effectively and ethically in diverse professional environments.
Students will develop their theoretical expertise while mastering practical techniques to help individuals with various behavioral challenges. The curriculum emphasizes consideration of social and cultural differences, contemporary legal requirements, mental health standards, and ethical guidelines.
After completing the program and undertaking a supervised internship year, graduates qualify for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as General Registered Psychologists. The University of Newcastle's Master of Professional Psychology prepares students for professional practice in psychology.
Participants will strengthen their theoretical foundations and acquire practical skills to support individuals facing behavioral issues, while respecting cultural diversity, legal parameters, mental health protocols, and ethical standards.
Applicants require the following in order to be considered for a place in the program:
Successful completion of an AQF Level 8 four-year APAC accredited sequence (or equivalent), completed within the last 10 years.
Eligibility for provisional registration with the Psychology Registration Board of Australia.
TOEFL paper-based test score of 589; TOEFL internet based score of 94; IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0; PTE GSE score of 65; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 67.
