The School of Education stands as the University's largest academic division, serving over 3,400 students enrolled in teacher training programs, approximately 950 postgraduate scholars pursuing advanced education studies, and more than 180 candidates working toward Masters or Doctoral degrees through research. While numerous students attend classes on campuses in Newcastle (Callaghan), Central Coast (Ourimbah), Port Macquarie, or North Rocks (via the Renwick Centre), the School also offers several online programs accessible to students worldwide. In the 2013 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the School earned an impressive position, placing Newcastle's Education program among the top 150 global institutions at rank 128. During 2012, faculty members published over 130 books and journal articles, secured $2,156,172 in research funding, and mentored 160 higher-degree research candidates. This exceptional research output has garnered both national and international recognition, with staff receiving prestigious honors including NHMRC fellowships, ARC and NHMRC grants, and other distinguished awards.
