Graduates will emerge as leaders in education. The University of Newcastle's Graduate Certificate in Education equips students for excellence in the teaching profession through a curriculum blending theory and practice. You'll gain hands-on leadership skills to guide fellow educators in delivering optimal learning experiences. The program structure includes one compulsory course plus 30 units of elective courses. This qualification builds upon your teaching background, preparing you for leadership roles in education. The Graduate Certificate in Education is a 40-unit postgraduate qualification, with admission available for qualified teachers who have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:
Bachelor Honours Degree; or
Bachelor’s degree; or
Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus two years' relevant work experience; or
At least five years’ demonstrable relevant work experience.
Relevant fields and applicable work experience include education, teaching, training, tutoring, or equivalent.
Work experience can be demonstrated through certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.
TOEFL paper-based test score of 550; TOEFL internet-based score of 79; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5; PTE GSE score of 58; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 58.
