The Bachelor of Visual Communication Design (Honours) is a one-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) program that enables students to achieve advanced specialization, professional expertise, and academic excellence. It serves as a foundation for pursuing Research Higher Degree studies. Graduates will gain: comprehensive and sophisticated understanding of core principles within their discipline(s) along with research methodologies, the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining professional ethics in design exploration and execution, a refined creative methodology for developing design skills and visual literacy, a critical perspective on design theories and their connections to historical practice and cultural contexts, the ability to identify and apply relevant technical, theoretical, and practical knowledge in design research and practice, demonstrated capacity to independently plan and execute research projects or scholarly work, accountability for personal learning and collaborative work within defined parameters, adaptability in applying knowledge across diverse contexts, initiative and sound judgment in professional practice and scholarship, effective communication skills for presenting ideas to various audiences, technical proficiency in research-based design projects, critical thinking skills for developing new insights, broad comprehension of theoretical concepts with specialized expertise in select areas, and analytical skills to independently solve complex problems through knowledge synthesis.
