The Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours) is a one-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) degree designed to deepen students' expertise in specialized areas while honing their research capabilities. This honours program offers concentrations in both Mathematics and Statistics, serving as a springboard for advanced career opportunities in business, industry, or postgraduate research. Graduates will acquire: Robust conceptual, theoretical, and analytical abilities in mathematics/statistics. Proficiency in applying mathematical/statistical principles, methods, and technologies to address challenges from various domains. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate logical reasoning through written, verbal, and/or visual formats. Competence in both independent and collaborative research settings, preparing for future roles in academia, business, or industry. Understanding of ethical considerations, global perspectives, and professional standards in mathematical/statistical research and its practical applications across sectors.
To be admitted into the program applicants must have completed the Bachelor of Mathematics or another cognate degree with a minimum GPA of 5.0 in:
all studies undertaken in the program; or
across a major in the proposed discipline of study; or
across 80 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists); or
where the applicant has completed less than 80 units at 3000 level, a GPA of 5.5 calculated from at least 60 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists).
TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet-based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
