The UNSW Master of Public Policy and Governance is a two-year full-time postgraduate program that examines contemporary policy issues through a social science lens. This degree equips students with research and analytical capabilities essential for policymaking, analysis, and implementation roles in modern organizations. Throughout the program, participants gain practical skills to critically assess public policy while understanding its broader societal impacts. The curriculum focuses on developing expertise in policy evaluation and sensitivity, preparing graduates to analyze how research, governance, and policy decisions affect various stakeholders and communities.
Entry for the 1.7 year stream
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW credit average of 65%.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in any discipline with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW credit average of 65%, plus one-year relevant professional experience.
Honours degree or Graduate Diploma* (or equivalent qualification) in any discipline with a record of academic achievement equivalent to a UNSW credit average of 65%.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 7.0 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 94 overall (min. 25 in writing, 23 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 65 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 185 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of B and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
